I woke up at 2am this morning, trying to figure out what sound I was hearing. It took a moment, but I realized it was the vanity drawer opening, and slamming shut with the roll of the ship. I looked outside and could see the spray of the wake. That was a first! It was pretty rough out, with serious swells and whitecaps. Needless to say, I just watched from my bed, and didn’t get up. I would have like to have gone out on the balcony, but it looked cold!
We’ve been rounding the island of Mallorca, Spain, heading for the harbor of Palma. We have the ‘view from the bridge’ up on the tv, and there is actually something to look at for a change, besides open water. We’ve gone from sunshine, to serious clouds, back to sunshine. We’ll go ashore this afternoon and see what we can.

The view off of our stern has been pretty dramatic. Lots of thunderheads, a silver sky, and sunshine. As I was watching, I kept seeing something on the water far to our stern. I wondered what was following us, and was trying to figure it out. When I looked up above the water line, I realized it was a tornado! That was certainly a first for me. I took some pictures, and if you look above the water disturbance, you can see it. It stayed for a long time. Something like 20 minutes. I’m glad it didn’t come closer.

We’ve packed up for an early departure tomorrow. We’re onto phase 3 of our trip – a week in Barcelona. But for now, I’m looking forward to Palma.
